Information systems is an umbrella term for the systems, people and processes designed to create, store, manipulate, distribute and disseminate information. The field of information systems bridges business and computer science.
Information technology (IT) is the application of computers to store, study, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information, often in the context of a business or other enterprise. IT is considered a subset of information and communications technology (ICT).
LAYERS OF IT AND IS
‣ Applications
‣ Infrastructure Management Tools and Services
‣ Servers
‣ Storage
‣ Network
‣ Facilities
Information technology can also be defined as the study, design, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems.
IT typically includes hardware, software, databases and networks. Information technology often governs the acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of digitized information, or data, generated through the disciplines of computing and telecommunications. Information technology focuses on managing technology and improving its utilization to advance the overall business goals.
We understand electronic components don't last forever, but SOUNDVIEW takes a personalized approach: building powerful custom and specialized systems with excellence, that are upgradable as your project grows. Giving you the best flexibility and ensuring greater usability before obsoleteness. Quality systems that are modern today and well into the future — that you will come to appreciate over time. Wake-up! This is not a sales pitch: it's our reality and commitment! Our customized systems are known to last a minimum of 12 years before wanting to change to a more desirable "motherboard." These include: information management, print servers,
server rooms, point of sale, telecommunications and IP systems.
As we harvest and build energy, industries and technology infrastructures as a planet — SOUNDVIEW stands firm and committed to providing IT solutions with the highest level of reliability.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV), also known as video surveillance, is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors. It differs from broadcast television in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though it may employ point to point (P2P), point to multipoint (P2MP), or mesh wired or wireless links. Though almost all video cameras fit this definition, the term is most often applied to those used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as bars, banks, casinos, schools, hotels, airports, hospitals, restaurants, military installations, convenience stores and other areas where security is needed. Though Videotelephony is seldom called "CCTV" one exception is the use of video in distance education, where it is an important tool.
In industrial plants, CCTV equipment may be used to observe parts of a process from a central control room, for example when the environment is not suitable for humans. CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event. A more advanced form of CCTV, utilizing digital video recorders (DVRs), provides recording for possibly many years, with a variety of quality and performance options and extra features (such as motion detection and email alerts). More recently, decentralized IP cameras, some equipped with megapixel sensors, support recording directly to network-attached storage devices, or internal flash for completely stand-alone operation.
A fire alarm system has a number of devices working together to detect and warn people through visual and audio appliances when smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or other emergencies are present. These alarms may be activated automatically from smoke detectors, and heat detectors or may also be activated via manual fire alarm activation devices such as manual call points or pull stations. Alarms can be either motorized bells or wall mountable sounders or horns. They can also be speaker strobes which sound an alarm, followed by a voice evacuation message which warns people inside the building not to use the elevators. Fire alarm sounders can be set to certain frequencies and different tones including low, medium and high, depending on the country and manufacturer of the device.
A fire alarm control panel (FACP), fire alarm control unit (FACU), or simply fire alarm panel is the controlling component of a fire alarm system. The panel receives information from devices designed to detect and report fires, monitors their operational integrity and provides for automatic control of equipment, and transmission of information necessary to prepare the facility for fire based on a predetermined sequence. The panel may also supply electrical energy to operate any associated initiating device, notification appliance, control, transmitter, or relay. There are four basic types of panels: coded panels, conventional panels, addressable panels, and multiplex systems.
Typical interconnected systems to the Fire Alarm Control Panel include HVAC, Building Automation Controllers, Security/Access Control or Elevator Controllers.

Building automation is the automatic centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and other systems through a building management system or building automation system (BAS). The objectives of building automation are improved occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, reduction in energy consumption and operating costs, and improved life cycle of utilities.
Building automation is an example of a distributed control system – the computer networking of electronic devices designed to monitor and control the mechanical, security, fire and flood safety, lighting (especially emergency lighting), HVAC and humidity control and ventilation systems in a building or across several campuses. Modern systems generally consist of switches and sensors connected to a central hub sometimes called a "gateway" from which the system is controlled with a user interface that is interacted either with a wall-mounted terminal, mobile phone software, tablet computer or a web interface, often but not always via Internet cloud services.
Wi-Fi and Ethernet are often used for remote monitoring and control.
BAS core functionality keeps building climate within a specified range, provides light to rooms based on an occupancy schedule (in the absence of overt switches to the contrary), monitors performance and device failures in all systems, and provides malfunction alarms to building maintenance staff. A BAS should reduce building energy and maintenance costs compared to a non-controlled building. Most commercial institutional, and industrial buildings built after 2000 include a BAS. Many older buildings have been retrofitted with a new BAS, typically financed through energy and insurance savings, and other savings associated with pre-emptive maintenance and quick detection of issues.
A building controlled by a BAS is often referred to as an intelligent building or "smart building", or (if a residence) a "smart home". Commercial and industrial buildings have historically relied on robust proven protocols like BACnet.

Electric power systems for industry-specific applications —if not designed and installed effectively from the distribution board and wiring to the various sockets— can end up costing more in the long run by having to replace equipment sooner. Our trained, licensed and fully insured experts agree: One thing is electricity used for lighting fixtures, air conditioning, and appliances; the other is electricity (or electric current, including low voltage) used for Audiovisual, Technological and other specialty equipment.
In the realms of sound reinforcement (as in public address systems and loudspeakers), the electric hum is often caused by induction. This hum is generated by oscillating electric currents induced in sensitive (high gain or high impedance) audio circuitry by the alternating electromagnetic fields emanating from nearby mains-powered devices like power transformers. The audible aspect of this sort of electric hum is produced by amplifiers and loudspeakers. Mains hum, as well as high-frequency audible noise, are "plagues" that result from this induction and, like viruses in a computer, when allowed to enter and reproduce in the equipment, they disturb and alter the quality of their intended functionalities, possibly causing malfunction and a short lifespan for its components.
More than a nuisance, these troubles can make a bottom-line impacting difference in critical applications. This is one reason why, at SOUNDVIEWSI we build and maintain electrical systems to integration standards in the National Electrical Code (NEC) and requirements for industry-specific solutions, end-use or load that pass energy-efficient building regulation, inspection and certification.
We specialize in modern systems that provide clean and green energy for the use of dedicated electronic and technological equipment. Our company promotes technologies for sustainable energy (100% ecologically) including renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectricity, solar energy, wind energy, wave power, geothermal energy, bioenergy, tidal power and also technologies designed to improve energy efficiency.
In the land of visual communication, the moving image is king. Aha! "Video!" There is no other electronic medium like it — in which to record, copy, playback, broadcast and display moving visual media.
What determines the quality of a:
‣ Video Display: the resolution of the display, refresh rate and inputs
‣ Video Camera: dynamic range and color gamut
‣ Video Projector: native resolution, lumens (brightness), color gamut, refresh rate, throw distance, noise level, inputs and cost of replacing a bulb
‣ Data Format: high-dynamic-range digital intermediate with improved color depth
‣ Media Player: processing power, resolution, outputs & interactivity
In today's visual applications there is an obvious desire for vivid, vibrant and big pictures (still photos or moving video images). With TV networks and social media channels broadcasting live transmissions and video feeds from production studios or just a simple camera, the need for world-class, quality electronic visual displays is eminent now, more than ever. The big football game is the perfect example. It's standard in places like restaurants, bars and lounges to have huge HDTVs for clients, who expect to watch live news, entertainment, sports and the like, while sat enjoying a meal or beverage. It's similar to having the WiFi amenity in an establishment, where people demand it as a "must-have" to "stay connected."
Another modern trend is the use of electronic video displays as digital video wall, signage devices and interactive displays. Walk into today's retail stores for example, and instead of printed signs, you'll see a plethora of products and services being displayed and/or advertised on 50 - 98 inch flat screens, with the flexibility to create and edit the content (things like pricing and availability) right from a phone, tablet or computer.
If you want your Digital Signage Display to be:
‣ Reliable
‣ Viewed from any angle without distortion
‣ Mounted vertically (Portrait Mode)
‣ Operated 24/7, 16/7 or for long periods of time
‣ Protected by a longer warranty
‣ Consistent among other LCDs of the same model
‣ Fully functional with the Digital Signage Player
…then a Commercial Grade LCD is a must-have.
As a solutions provider in the flat-panel display market, SOUNDVIEW partners with the world's best suppliers and manufacturers, to consult, install and integrate the best visual display & digital signage systems for your exact individual needs and venue.
